Meet your doula

Andrea Rosales, PCD(DONA), CD, MPH

Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most powerful journeys, and every family deserves support that feels both accessible and empowering.

As a certified doula and wellness coach, I’m committed to making this care available by accepting insurance and helping families navigate coverage with ease.

My role is to walk alongside you—through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—so you feel held, informed, and supported every step of the way. Together, we’ll explore your insurance options and create a plan that truly meets your family’s needs.

I’m honored to support families by accepting the following insurance plans:

Currently Accepted Insurance

  • Kaiser – Commercial & Medi-Cal

  • HealthNet – Commercial & Medi-Cal

These plans may cover a range of doula services, including prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care. Exact coverage depends on your individual plan, and I’ll guide you through verifying your benefits.

Carrot Fertility

I’m also a Carrot Fertility provider, which works a little differently than traditional insurance. With Carrot, families often receive a set wellness or fertility stipend that can be applied to doula care. Together, we’ll review your benefit breakdown and decide how to use your funds for prenatal, labor, or postpartum support.

Insurance Coverage Overview

How It Works (Step-by-Step):

  1. Meet-and-Greet – A short call to connect, review your needs, and confirm coverage.

  2. Verification – We’ll check your benefits together.

  3. Care Options – We’ll design your package (initial visits, standard visits, labor + delivery, extended postpartum visits).

What’s included?

Every family’s coverage may look a little different, but here’s the general breakdown of what’s included when using Kaiser or HealthNet (Commercial & Medi-Cal):

  • 1 Initial 90-Minute Visit – Prenatal or postpartum, focused on building your care plan and addressing your most important needs.

  • 8 Standard Visits – Flexible to be prenatal or postpartum, depending on where you need the most support.

  • 1 Labor & Delivery Visit – Continuous support during your birth, whether it’s vaginal, cesarean, VBAC, or support through miscarriage or abortion.

  • 2 Extended Postpartum Visits – Up to 3 hours each, for deeper support as you adjust to life with your baby.

  • 9 Additional Postpartum Visits – Available when recommended by a medical professional, ensuring continued care during your healing journey.

My commitment is to help you understand your benefits, handle the documentation, and create a care plan that fits your family’s unique needs.

"While further research is needed, existing studies suggest that doula support during labor may lead to improved maternal and neonatal outcomes, including a reduction in cesarean rates and the use of medical interventions."

Working Together

Supporting your family is a collaborative journey, and my commitment is to meet you where you are—emotionally, physically, and practically.

Here’s how we’ll work together:

  • Personalized Care Plan: After our Meet & Greet and insurance verification, we’ll create a plan tailored to your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum needs. We’ll discuss your goals, preferences, and any special considerations so that every visit feels meaningful and supportive.

  • Flexible Scheduling & Formats: Life with a growing family is unpredictable. Visits may be provided in person, by phone, or virtually, depending on your needs. We’ll work together to schedule prenatal, postpartum, and labor support visits that fit your schedule. Extended visits are also available if you need additional guidance or hands-on support.

  • Guidance + Education: Throughout our time together, I provide evidence-based guidance on birth preparation, bodyfeeding, wellness, and postpartum recovery. I also share resources for mental health, nutrition, and infant care.

  • Hands-on Support: From labor and delivery to newborn care at home, I provide practical, hands-on support while helping you feel confident in your abilities.

  • Ongoing Communication: You’ll always have a trusted partner to answer questions, offer reassurance, and provide advocacy when needed. Whether by text, call, or email, I’m here to help you navigate this journey.

  • Culturally Sensitive & Inclusive: I honor every family’s unique experience, including BIPOC and multilingual families, ensuring your values and traditions are respected.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What if my insurance doesn’t cover doula care?
A: Even if your plan doesn’t fully cover doula services, there may be reimbursement options through Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). I can also provide a superbill or letter of medical necessity to help you submit for reimbursement.

Q: How do I know what’s included in my coverage?
A: Coverage varies by plan. Once you schedule a Meet & Greet, we’ll review your benefits together, and I’ll help you understand exactly what’s covered, including prenatal visits, labor support, and postpartum visits.

Q: Can visits be virtual?
A: Yes! Visits may be conducted in person, by phone, or virtually, depending on your needs and preferences. This helps ensure flexibility for your schedule and comfort.

A: Simply fill out the client intake form on my website. The Meet & Greet is a short introduction where we review your needs and insurance coverage before creating your personalized care plan.

Q: Do you accept Carrot Fertility?
A: Yes! Carrot works a little differently than traditional insurance. We’ll review your benefit breakdown together so you can use your stipend for prenatal, labor, or postpartum support.

Q: What happens if I need more visits than what insurance covers?
A: Additional visits can be added outside of insurance coverage if needed. I’ll help you plan for these visits and provide guidance on payment options so your care remains uninterrupted.

TESTIMONIALS

“My doula was absolutely amazing! Desiring a vbac with less than 2 years from my c section sounded crazy to most but I knew it was possible. Andrea was so supportive throughout my whole pregnancy always sharing knowledgeable resources that empowered me to go after what I wanted. After reaching 40 weeks pregnant I felt extremely overwhelmed and I was ready to give up on my dream of an unmedicated birth Andrea always had the right words to reassure me that baby girl will come when she was ready and that we were both doing great. I am so glad I remained patient and listened to body and allowed my baby girl to come on her own at 41 weeks and 1 day. Delivering my baby girl was an amazing experience having the right support team really makes THE difference.”

I’m happy with the support received during birth. Andrea is great in giving emotional support! What stood out to me is how Andrea stayed for a while after birth and really took care of what I needed and what baby needed so my partner can rest.
-Shamara Jolley
“My overall experience with my doula was a 10/10! I will forever be grateful for her ability to keep me grounded while in active labor. My doula was very hands on when it came to pressure points & massages to relax me. She was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable when asking questions even after birth. I will most definitely recommend Andrea as a doula to all my friends & family members.”
